We’ve all had that one friend. The one who thinks she’s a good friend, but can be easily manipulated by others. Cecilia “CeCe” Wood, from the contemporary romance novel, Rivalry is such a friend. CeCe has another bad habit. She likes to stick her nose into other people’s business.
CeCe and Jenna are interior designers at a Denver architectural firm. They have a good working relationship. CeCe even introduced Jenna to her Ken, someone she’s known since high school. Jenna and Ken took a liking to one another and began dating. However, Jenna ended the relationship four month later. They wished one another well soon met other people. Unfortunately, Ken wasn’t quite ready to end the relationship. He has unfinished business with Jenna, and he will use a gullible CeCe to his advantage.
Ken wants to more about Jenna’s new love interest, so CeCe keeps him up to date. She thinks doing so will convince him that Jenna has indeed moved on. She also keeps reminding him that his new girlfriend is a much better match. Little does she realize that Ken is using this information to his advantage, and when she finally does figure it out, it will be too late.
CeCe is loosely based on a friend I once had, many years ago. It took me a long time to realize that she really wasn’t such a good friend after all.
