One of the inside jokes among authors is that we’re all coffee junkies. There actually is some truth to this. Many of us do our writing late at night as we have to deal with many distractions during the day. You know, cooking, cleaning, dog walking, day jobs, that sort of thing. Therefore, we may need that late night caffeine kick. Unfortunately, drinking too much caffeine late at night makes it too hard for me to sleep, so I’m a morning coffee drinker. Do not talk to me before I’vd had my morning coffee. My brain does not come online until after I’ve had my morning cup of joe.
A few years ago I bought a 12-cup Cuisinart coffee maker. I had a coupon from Lowes that was about to expire, and my old coffee maker had suddenly stopped working. (Not to worry. I have a Coffee Gater just for emergencies like this.) It turned out to be a pretty darn good coffee maker, I used it for several years, but then, the unthinkable happened. It too stopped working properly, so now I and to find a new one. Pronto. I also decided to go with a smaller unit. Twelve cups is a lot of coffee, and even when I was having guests over for a meal, I never came close to needing twelve cups. So, off to Amazon I went.
My old coffee maker was programable, and while you can do a lot with it, I’m just not a techy person, so I didn’t want to pay for features I didn’t need. I also wanted something smaller which would take up less counter space. It took a little time to weed though my search results, (sometimes Amazon can be overwhelming) but I soon found what I wanted. It’s small. Only makes five cups, and it’s a just-the-basics model. No complicated programming feature. Clicked on the buy button. It arrived the next day, and as soon as I got it out of the box I filled the carafe with water and flushed it out. Now I’m back in business, and I can get back to what I do best. Working on my next contemporary romance novel.
